Geriatrics

Geriatrics refers to the medical care of older or elderly individuals. The scope of care has changed to include not just the medical needs, but also the psychological and social needs of seniors. More than ever before, geriatric care encompasses a holistic approach to coping with aging and its effects.

At North Suburban Family Medicine, our specialists in geriatric medicine treat our aging patients’ special healthcare needs with close attention and targeted treatment, including evaluating a person’s ability to care for him or herself (e.g., prepare and eat meals, bathe, dress).

Gynecology

Gynecology is the branch of medicine that deals with the functions and diseases specific to women and girls, especially those affecting the reproductive system. From puberty through menopause, a woman's reproductive organs are constantly changing through the normal processes of sexual activity, pregnancy and aging, and sometimes disease and injury.

At North Suburban Family Medicine gynecological care includes the treatment of such conditions as:

  • Abnormal Menstrual Periods
  • Abnormal Pap Smears
  • Endometriosis
  • Fibroids
  • Menopause
  • Ovarian Masses
  • Pelvic Pain
  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
  • Sexually Transmitted Diseases
  • Urinary Tract Infections
  • Uterine Bleeding
  • Vaginitis

Pediatrics

Differences between adult and pediatric medicine: The body size differences are paralleled by maturational changes. The smaller body of an infant or neonate is substantially different physiologically from that of an adult. Congenital defects, genetic variance, and developmental issues are of greater concern to pediatricians than they often are to adult physicians.

Our qualified, dedicated healthcare professionals at North Suburban Family Medicine work together as a team to provide your children with complete medical care in a warm and caring setting.

Osteopathic Manipulation

Osteopathic manipulation is a full-body system of hands-on techniques to alleviate pain, restore function, and promote health and well-being.

Dr. Tina Blachut specializes in Osteopathic Manipulation. Attention is given to the total patient and not just to the manifested effect. During the exam, Dr. Blachut will search for the fundamental cause while also alleviating the local, presenting complaint. She will endeavor to correct the causes thus producing a more enduring and complete change within the body which will permit a reversal of those adaptive changes and restoration of health.
